Who Is Jesus?
Jesus is the eternal Son of God and the Savior of humanity. He is fully divine, having existed with God the Father and the Holy Spirit from eternity as part of the divine Trinity. He came to earth through a miraculous virgin birth, lived a sinless life, and revealed the character and love of God through His actions and teachings. His suffering, death, and resurrection provided the perfect, all-sufficient atonement for sin, offering forgiveness and eternal life to all who trust in Him by faith. After His resurrection, Jesus ascended to heaven, where He continues His ministry as humanity’s High Priest, interceding on behalf of believers. He will return soon in a visible, literal manner, bringing salvation and restoration to all who have accepted His grace. Through Jesus’ life, death, and ongoing ministry, God’s love, justice, and hope for humanity are revealed.
What is the Holy Bible?
The Holy Bible is the inspired, written Word of God, given through the guidance of the Holy Spirit to human authors who expressed God’s truth in their own words and cultural contexts. It is the supreme authority for faith and practice, providing the foundation for understanding God’s character, salvation, history, and future events. Adventists believe the Bible is infallible in its teachings, a trustworthy guide for moral living, and the standard by which all doctrines and experiences must be tested.
Who is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is fully divine and equal with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit was active in creation, inspired the writers of Scripture, empowered Jesus’ ministry, and continues to draw, convict, and transform believers into the image of God. Sent by the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit lives within believers to comfort, guide, and empower them for service, helping the church bear witness to Christ and leading it into all truth.
What is the Sabbath Day?
The Sabbath is a sacred day of rest and worship established by God at Creation, observed from Friday evening to Saturday evening. It commemorates God’s creative work and serves as a weekly opportunity for physical, mental, andspiritual renewal through communion with God and fellowship with others. The Sabbath is also a sign of God’s eternal covenant, a symbol of redemption, sanctification, and a foretaste of the eternal rest believers will enjoy in God’s kingdom.
What is the Spirit of Prophecy?
The Spirit of Prophecy is the divine gift of prophecy given by the Holy Spirit to God’s messengers, enabling them to provide spiritual guidance, correction, and encouragement. This gift is identified with the “testimony of Jesus” (Revelation 19:10) and is especially significant in the last days as a mark of God’s remnant people. Adventists recognize Ellen G. White as having manifested this prophetic gift, whose writings continue to inspire and direct the church in harmony with the Bible.
What is the End of Times?
The end of times encompasses a series of prophetic events leading up to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, marked by a global crisis that tests faith and loyalty, with the Sabbath as a pivotal issue. At Jesus’ return, the righteous are resurrected and taken to heaven for a thousand years, while the earth remains desolate as Satan is bound during this millennium. After this period, the wicked are resurrected for final judgment and destruction, and God creates a new earth where the redeemed will live eternally in peace and joy, free from sin and suffering.
